Plant Description
is a shrub, usually with opposite horizontal thorns a little above the leaf. Sometimes the shrub is nearly unarmed. Leaves are ovate, smooth, and often fascicled on young shoots. Short, few flowered racemes arise in leaf axils. Flowers are small and yellow with four stamens. Flowers are bearded in the throat.
Uses
It is a traditional medicine for treating snake bites is made by combining the roots with milk.
Treating headaches: A paste made from the bark, turmeric, and lime is applied to the forehead to cure headaches.
Treating a variety of ailments: In Ayurvedic medicine, it has been used to treat fever, skin diseases, digestive disorders, respiratory problems, urinary tract infections, skin infections, gastrointestinal infections, malaria, dengue fever, and liver disorders.
Treating wounds, scabies, and other conditions: Local people use different parts of the plant to treat wounds, scabies, fever, diuretic problems, diabetes, indigestion, diarrhea, leucorrhoea, constipation, and blood purification.
Fencing: The branches are used for fencing.
