Plant Description: Vetiver grows to 150 cm high and florms clumps as wide and under favourable conditions. Stems are tall and the leaves are long, thin and rather rigid. Flowers are brownish purple. The panicles are 15 – 30 cm long and the spikelets are in pairs.
Distribution and Habitat: Vetiver is a perennial plant that is native to India and is widely distributed in tropical regions around the world. It is found along low, damp areas such as swamps and bogs.
Uses:
Vetiver is grown for many purposes. Oil is extracted and used for cosmetics, aromatherapy, herbal skincare and ayurvedic soap. It is used for crop protection, termite repellent and animal feed.
