Sree Ayyappa College for Women came into existence in the year 1970. The institution established with the motto, ‘Siksha Dharmena Shobathe’ (Education Sparkles through Moral Excellence) is run by Sree Ayyappa Educational Society.

The Society formed by the Malayalam speaking linguistic minority of Kanyakumari District and registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1955 founded a junior college for men in the year 1969. But as the greater need was for the higher education of women students, the Management with the consent of the affiliated Madurai University converted the institution into a women’s college in the next year.

The college was vested with linguistic minority status in 1987. It is a boon not only to the young women students of linguistic minority but also to students of all disadvantaged communities.

Principal's Message

In this technology-ridden and developing world of immense possibilities it is imperative to learn and reinvent oneself to attain one’s goal. As educators we need to think and reflect innovative trends in education. Focusing on the modern and traditional methods of imparting knowledge, Sree Ayyappa College for Women acts as a centre of excellence to mould the talents of students. Maintaining healthy relationships and rendering service to society are our turn goals. Students are motivated to develop inquisitiveness enabling them to be critical thinkers and decision makers. With hard work, creativity and innovative thinking, we intend to tread new avenues. We have a dedicated team of faculty members who strive to shape the personality of students by promoting academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Rooted in values, strengthened with experience and drawing inspiration from the presiding deity, this institution focuses on holistic development, academic excellence, cultural refinement and spiritual enlightenment. Our aim is to create students of great potential who will be the promising citizens of tomorrow. Twenty eight years after graduating from this esteemed institution, I am overwhelmed with joy and nostalgia. Witnessing the transformation and growth of my alma mater has been a truly surreal experience. The news of our college achieving an A grade is a testament to the tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of the entire team. I'm proud to be an alumnus of SAC. My first day at SAC was filled with mixed emotions of fear and anxiety. However, as time passed, the warmth and guidance from the English Department teachers made all the difference.I managed to do my good academically, which gave me a sense of self-satisfaction. I'd like to express my gratitude to the English Department teachers who inspired me. Each of you brought unique qualities that made our learning experience enriching. Although I couldn't attend our alumni meet due to unforeseen circumstances, I feel honored to have been invited. The success of our alma mater fills me with pride and joy.
