International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

In association with Revenue Administration, Disaster Management and Disaster Mitigation Department, an awareness programme on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was organised in our campus on 12th October 2017. The theme of the year was “Mission Zero Affected People during Natural Disasters in Kanniyakumari District 2030”. Mr. C. Selva Kumar P.A. to Collector (Accounts) and Hon. Treasurer, IRCS and Mr. A Suresh Kumar, State Disaster Response Team member, Tamilnadu Branch and Managing Committee member, IRCS addressed the students and This was followed by the Inter-Collegiate Competitions for Arts and Science Colleges. Elocution completion was conducted on the topic – Strengthening Disaster risk Governance to Manage Disaster Risk. The Topic given for Essay writing was Investing in Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilence and the Thematic Drawing Competion was on ‘Build Back Better’. Dr. Suresh, Project Director, TNSLRM felicitated the events and distributed the participation certificates.
